Dear Mr. Trump,
Tools are neither good nor bad. They simply are. The sole purpose of their existence is to serve the owner until they are no longer needed. A well made tool can easily outlast the owner. Such was the case regarding the ones I inherited from my father and judging from their present condition they stand a very good chance of outlasting me.
Sometimes they need to be repaired or replaced if they break while being used. Repairs can often be done at a fraction of the cost of an all out replacement. Incidentally, this concept can be applied across many physical, emotional and sociological spectrums.
Laws are like tools in that they derive all of their strength from they way they are designed and constructed. The laws which have governed this great nation have been strained beyond their original framework and yet continue to stand the test of time. The wisdom of the Constitutional framers is evidenced with every day that goes by.
Unfortunately, in the past six years or so, we’ve learned that our beloved Constitution as a solid legal document isn’t without its limitations. See, a law is only as good as the integrity of those whose solemn duty it is to uphold it. And we have found out that even if someone chooses to ignore some of its core principles this document has the strength to repel an all out frontal assault.
The twisted course of our political decisions has added to the heightened sense of instability over the past few years. President Obama had promised to fundamentally change our way of life and in keeping with his word, he has repeatedly instructed his Dept of Justice to look the other way as droves of people scamper across our porous southern boarder. This sociological intrusion falls under the category of illegal immigration.
And sadly, that is where the hate begins.
It seems that if someone crosses into Mexico from the US of A without the proper documentation the Mexican authorities will imprison that individual for illegally entering their country. Conversely, if someone crosses over thru our southern boarder without the proper documentation our American authorities have been instructed to take these people to the nearest processing station to arrange a “schedule to appear” date. Not surprisingly, they seldom do appear.
So begins the cycle of the great compassionate enabling formerly known as illegal immigration. Once we lose track of them there is virtually zero effort put into locating them again.
I have a different understanding about immigration based on the way my mother became a naturalized citizen in the fifties. It seemed back then people understood that American citizenship carried a certain level of provision which is still desired even today. The main difference as best as I can see, is that today (in the name of compassion) people are being encouraged to break the law as their first act in gaining access to our great nation. We have always been the ones to take in the less fortunate…however there is a legal process in place to accommodate that need. Unless of course, somehow the word gets out that we are no longer in the business to enforce such antiquated methods of order.
And that’s why your message concerning illegal immigration resounds so well across this great nation of ours. We are everyday Americans doing our best to create for our families and ourselves a better future…a better opportunity for our children to pursue for their families. It’s the American way and has been that way for centuries.
So when you go up against the John Kasich’s of the world that seems completely comfortably in their quest to destroy the safety net of our constitution in the name of a false compassion narrative. We are the majority this time…the generations of producers who are encouraged by your fearlessness. It’s something the Establishment Republicans don’t seem to quite get.
It’s rather simple, really.
When the powers in Washington attacked the Tea Party and authorized the IRS to derail our ability to organize (by building a sizable financial war chest founded on conservative principles) they thought they had silenced us once and for all.
But they are as blinded by their power as the British were some 239 years ago when they faced the Colonies of early America. The blood of our independence flows thru our veins today just as fervently as it did back then and we will not be restrained.
This groundswell of support on which you’re currently riding isn’t going to fade anytime soon and it’s scaring the crap out of those in power. So much so…they are scrambling to figure out a way to take back control of their precious political process. They are so out of touch they don’t even know their power has left them.
So Mr. Trump, once again we Americans thank you…those Americans who willingly take up the battle against this present day tyranny. We will continue to support you…we will continue to confront your detractors (something we do ever so proudly).
This war is far from over. We appreciate how important the stakes are.
Like you…we desire to keep America great. We desire to continue the American tradition of equality…not in outcomes but in opportunity. One constrains individual creative genius and the other provides the environment for that genius to flourish.
Watching from the sidelines,
